My bridal party and my mom are throwing a bridal shower for me. I am fairly new to this as I have never been married nor have I ever stood up in a wedding as I am the first one of my friends to get married. My question is I know that I should get a gift for my bridal party and give it to them just before the wedding, but I am not sure if I am supposed to get them something and give it to them at the shower for throwing it for me. And if I do what kind of thing should I get them. Please help.

Also, if any one knows of any good websites to review wedding/bridal ettiquette it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey gurl ~
I've never been married either; however, I've been to many bachelorette and bridal shower parties over the last couple of years. I'm a Passion Parties consultant and if you're interested in doing an adult toy party, let me know (www.EnhancingYourRomance.com), I can hook you up with a consultant in your area (as long as you are in the US or Canada).

You can go to your local bookstore and check the section for relationships ... you can find books on a Step-by-step guide for your wedding even with ideas on what to give the bridal party.

From past experiences, the bride-to-be does NOT give her bridal party their gifts at her bridal party ... you would probably want to give them to each separately (at least that's what I would do) unless you wanted to throw a party for just you girls ... then do it then.

I've looked this up online and here are some links that you may want to check out:

I know one of my girlfriends made them all jewelry as that is something she loves to do, so it worked out nicely ... I would probably get something for each of them (not all the same item) under a certain amount (whatever you set it for and I wouldnt go over $50 but even that can be expensive if you have a lot of girls in your bridal party).

If you go to: www.google.com and do a search for 'bridal party gifts', or 'bridal gift ideas' ... you'll come up with some sites and of course be prepared to be online for a little while checking this stuff out. Always bookmark sites that you like, so you can go back and check them out for later.

Hope this helps
sharon

Here is a great website to answer some of your questions:

I am from the old school (age 62) and i have never heard of giving the people who gave you the shower a gift. I always thought that it is what you would like to do that really counts, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. When i got married i gave the bridal party gifts and they were the ones that gave me the showers so it seemed to cover everything. Of course if the people giving the shower are relatives i wouldn't think you need to give them gifts.

Now, I am a man, but watched my ex throw many bridal showers. From what I remember, you do not get them a gift for the shower, that day is for you. You get them gifts to give them at the rehearsal dinner, or right before the wedding, it is up to you.

But, given all the "customs and courtesies" that go with a wedding, it is your wedding. You are well within your rights to do things the way you want to.

I am the maid of honor for a wedding soon, and in the midst of planning her shower. I am not personally expecting a gift, as the shower is part of the understood agreement when someone accepts your request to be a bridesmaid.

Many brides give their attendants jewelery to wear at the wedding. If you wanted to do that, a pair of earrings or necklace would be nice. If you wanted to give both, maybe you could give one thing at the shower, and the other just before the wedding.
