it's really more of what you believe in. I typically vote as a republician because of religious views (don't bash on me, it's just who i am and my opinion, at least i take the time to vote). They believe in less social programs and are more conversative from a christian stand point. Pro life, against gay marriage, ect but here's the thing they believe in a small military and want to send them everywhere however the military tends to follow them better (until just recently).
The democrats on the other hand, are pro choice and make lots of social programs like welfare ect. I'm going to vote democrat this time (depending on the candidate I wont vote for hilary) because they take better care of the military. The military themselves see them as chicken leaders but they give us more money, better healthcare, and better housing. Plus we won't have to worry about our husbands leaving as much. It's a hard choice for me, because I believe that clinton should have went into 'ghan after the cole was bombed instead of just air strikes. I believe that 911 could have been prevented or at least push back a few years. And after stuff got started in Mogidshu we shouldn't have turned tail and run. We pulled out within 4 days and those rangers lives were lost for nothing, they started it we should have finished it. If you attack an american service person there should be consquences for that country or the country that allows those people to live and organize there. Anyway that's just my opinion, it may be wrong, it may be right, plz don't flame me, just trying to shed light on the question.
Oh one other big difference between the demo and the rep is that democrats believe in prision reform and are against the death penalty where the republics are for it.
Keep in mind these are just guidelines of the party, every candidate is going to be a little different and vote differently on different issues, the only thing i could tell you is to do your research before you vote.

Pros: They are the lesser of two evils, the war will end, Americans will have civil rights, and with a few nominees the Supreme Court will go back to protecting rights instead of taking them away.
Cons: They are often caught up in the same political machine as all the Republicans, but with 37% fewer scandals.

Pro- ummm, hmmmm, lets see, uhhhhh, Iguess that's it.
Con-They never follow through on there promises and they get away with it every time they need to regain the majority in Congress.
Republican aren't much better but at least we have a leader that rules on principle rather than waving his finger in the air to see which way the political wind is blowing.
