If you want to be a theoretical physicist, you'll need to take some physics - specifically, at least 4 semesters of quantum physics, but that might not make sense without the math physics and regular physics background.

I advice you to try canadian or US universities. They are the best for physics and they have all the laboratories and demand for people like you. In India, you have to run around again to get access to american journals and the professors will be too old and do not have the knowledge to guide at this level. You will suffer as a jobless physicist.

u need to crack standarised exam like GRE in phy, GATE in phy, etc.
study physics and try to start ammature research in physics.
study about nano physics that is a hot areas.
try to get summer research projects in physics
