i have a virgin mobile sim card with my current phone which is playing up a bit so i am going to get a new one. if i buy a new phone with an orange or a vodaphone sim card and then just put my old virgin sim card in the new phone will it work fine?

Orange and Vodafone lock their phones. So no. You will need to either buy it unlocked from somewhere like this - http://www.hi-mobile.net

or buy it from the network and have it unlocked. 90% of the time this is a very easy process and is normally the cheaper option because network provider phones are generally cheaper

you cant put a virgin Sim in a vodaphone or orange phone cause it wont work but you can get it opened to virgin which is quite cheap an it will work then

Depends if the new phone you buy is locked to a network, a lot of phones are now, but you can get them unlocked for about £5.

No, the phone will be locked to the network. The phone will need to be unlocked. You can buy simfree phones but they tend to be a lot more expensive. Virgin can sell you a phone only, but it will still be locked to the Virgin network.

depends on whether your phone is locked to virgin or not if it is it will only accept virgin sims
