I HATE getting jokes, chain letters.... Just tell them you appreciate the thought but you don't have time for them.
Unless this is a life long friend, I've learned over the years that there are too many good people out there on the internet to be friends with to stay stressed over 1 person who makes you unhappy.

Firstly, go and create a free email account. Then tell your friend that for jokes email, send them to this new account. And for the general communication, continue to send them to your original mailbox. If they ever ask for reason, just tell them you still want to keep their funny jokes in another account so that you can read them when you have spare time. You then let that new account flood and the emails will start bouncing back to them....by then, they should know that you do not have spare time for junk mails.

oh i have the perfect solution...
tell them that they need to 'mark' the e-mails that are bad as 'adult' or 'explicit' because you are afraid that your kids/parents/siblings might walk in when you are reading/looking at them.
that way you can just go and delete the ones that are 'marked' as such.
and you don't offend your friend.
or you could block them.
or if you just want to be honest. tell them how you feel.
tell them that while you appreciate everything that they send you , you wish that they didn't send anything dirty to you anymore.
so now you have at least 3 different solutions..

YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL THEM THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE ANY MAILS FROM THEM. JUST HIT THE SPAM BOTTON AND THAT'S IT. BUT IF IT IS FROM A FRIENDS AND YOU JUST DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF A CHAIN MESSAGE. BETTER ASK THEM IN A NICE WAY. THEY WOULD UNDERSTAND FOR SURE.

Just tell him that you don't want for him to send you anymore joke e-mails and if he gets affended he will get over it, or better yet when you see he send you an e-mail just delete it.

i wouldnt say anything, its not like you have to read them. just delete them. i have a few ppl who forward me all the dumb jokes, warnings, chain letters from bill gates...lol...i dont say anything i just delete them.
