Since you are going to recruit for a residential school a teacher apart from teaching will have to act as a friend counsellor be affectionate patient etc.I think you can keep these points in mind while recruiting.

A good teacher should be strict but kind when required affectionate but firm.Irrespective of whom you appoint(they need not satisfy the above criteria)have a written policy and make them follow it whether they like it or not.In case they don't, take disciplinary action.

Listen actively to what the students think about their teachers.Encourage students to make complaints about their teachers but do not go by what the students say blindly(sometimes if they don't like the teacher they will spread false stories) but give it a thought and if the student happens to be right give the teacher a warning. This way even if you make a mistake in hiring the wrong person the wrong person will have no other alternative but to behave as the right person.

As far as possible try to recruit the right person at the very first stage if at all you make a mistake do not panic.Keep the new teachers under a period of probation.

Remember the destiny of a nation is decided within four walls of the classroom.A good teacher is remembered with respects admiration and gratitude.

A students needs the teacher's love affection care the most when he or she deserves it the least. One or two affectionate words can transform the life of the student.
Explain all this to your employees.
Good luck.

I want to tell you .. that..I just realised that the manuals of literature for eg...are not what the classic writers want to be...I think that it shouldn't exist manuals (school books)of literature.Because there are students who prefer other writers ...the requirements given to each lesson , doesn't corespond to the intentions of the writers..The writers were not interested of the technique of the literary species used , they were interested to show their ideas ..which acctually have changed the world , its mentality , its way of thinking, of loving...
For e.g.Iin comunism at least , I used to learn at geography on some manuals full of informations like a dictionary, and hardly a photo (coloured -white -black)have been displayed, very little and understanding quite nothing from it...That is why today we don't much about geography , although we took only A , learning by heart...I think that geography must be a book full of images, large ..images , full of colour , so that we could remember something about that country.I also think that history ..should be taught ..using films , students cannot learn dictionaries of history..also photos from around the world showing something belongind to the past ..are welcome...I think that history must be taught ...showing the causes of the events ...and the mentality of the people of the past ...their interests and their belifs right or wrong....I think that mathematics should be taught to those who can accept it because life is made of words not of numbers ...and aI think that ....painting should be studied even in high school..It was something amazing for me that instead of the disciple of painting ...in highschool I was given ...techincal drawing...it was incredible disapointing..and first of all , I think that a school must have a main discipline made of morality and the commandements of God...and His teachings and miracles...

Most B.Eds are rejects of other professions. You should ask good teachers how to get good teachers. I think they want respect, interesting work and a purpose in life.
