you can see your card type; last 4 card numbers; & expiration date of your card; therefore they have your card on file.
However when you go to Personal Information, then Financial Information these card details are absent. Is this so you cannot remove your credit card from file?

Yes, if this data IS showing, the particular companies specified do have your credit card information on file. Some of the data is showing so you can verify the account on file, but not to reveal the entire number in the event that someone else has access to your computer system. The Personal Information files can be tampered with so it will not show up there, and yes to the latter part of your question. They have to remove it from their databases.

If you want it to be removed from their files, contact both companies and request it to be removed. Every time you want to make a purchase, you will have to submit your credit card information for that transaction. That is the most secure way to make purchases online IMHO. I never keep my credit cards on file anywhere - refer to the TJ MAXX/Marshall's incident if you get my drift.

In fact I have a separate credit card dedicated to online purchases only. I have successfully caught fraudsters attempting to access my accounts very quickly because I can easily pinpoint which account is being used for what purpose.

Ebay/Paypal are very strong on security so you won't see any numbers there.
Neither do you need these details there, you have the actual card with the details on.
I only pay via Paypal or cheque, so don't encounter this situation.

Some shop receipts print out the entire number.

eBay and paypal are evil corporations. They pretend they are different companies but they are the same thing. I never have my credit card on file. I decide when and how much to pay them. They have your card on file. If you want them to remove it you need to contact them. Its a long and difficult procedure.
