why do guys think softball is a waste of time ?

you know as well as i do guys are always like softball,girls are just wastin their time the only real sport is baseball

I for one do not think that. When I worked at a Steel Mill, we had a Softball Team and won first place two years running. The company even sponsered us. Usually others who think this, is no good in Sports and take their frustration out on putting down others who do enjoy it. Nerdy guys seem to play softball. It seems that the good looking ones play baseball because they are not good enough in the sport to play Softball. They are worried about messing up their *pretty face* like Michale Dorn in Major League. (the movie)

As a matter of fact I (ex baseball player) think that fast-pitch softball is a faster and harder game to play. Any one that has watched competitive fast-pitch softball will tell you that the game is no joke and is not for the fainthearted. The Athleticism of the girls has increased over the years, that they now rival the boys, except in strength. With the smaller field they have to react faster, and cannot bobble the ball just a little like you can in baseball and still make the play. I just watched a college camp looking at potential recruits. There was four girls there that could throw a softball between 65-70 MPH from Shortstop to first. Translate that to a baseball and you see they can now throw just s hard as a boy can. BTW none of the four girls weighed over 135 pounds.

I guess it depends on what you are exposed to. There are several levels of play in softball unlike hardball. Slow pitch, 6-12 ft arc, high (unlimited) arc, modified pitch and fastpitch. Fast pitch is much more competitave than hardball at any level. The top men pitchers throw around 100 mph. Ty Stofflet was clocked at 103.4 and that's from 46 feet. That converts to around 140 mph for hardball from 60 feet. Do you know any so called real athleats that play hardball and can hit a 140 mph fast ball? You can play beer belly softball if you wish, the girls at least play fast pitch and a 70 mph softball pitch requires a reaction time close to major league hardball speed reaction time when converted. By the way a softball is as hard as a baseball for those that think it's soft.

Girls aren't wasting their time if they have fun doing it, it's the audience that wastes their time watching it. Why watch a sport that was created with rules very close to that of baseball, but in this game they use a giant softball. Not only do they use a large and softer ball, but it is played by primarily inferior athletes(women).

Woah, you've crossed the line, buddy. As much as I like baseball, I will always play softball, it is a matter of preference, not skill. I also find that only nerdy guys seem to play softball. The good looking ones play baseball ;)

Softball is fun to play while drinking beers. I get hammered and play softball for a bar. Its awesome. Guys and girls play and its about having fun. But softball will never be on tv regularly like baseball and the world series and what not.

Softball is a sport played by millions of men in the US. I think it keeps their dream of playing professional baseball "alive." It is a fun sport to interact with other adults and get a little exercise. So I don't believe that most men would say that it is a waste of time.

softball is cool. it is fun to play also. I am not the baseball freak that some are out there, and whenever I attempt to play baseball, I cannot even see the ball after the pitcher throws it my way to hit it. In softball, I can actually hit the ball and feel as if I am in the game, not striking out all the time......

those different adult adult males should not be staring at genuine HS softball!! women pitch interior the mid 50's mph, with exchange-ups, upward thrust-balls, curve-balls, & screwballs from forty 3 feet... the value at that distance is like boys pitching approximately eighty mph from their distance, that's a solid HS thrower! Plus, there is a lot extra action and technique in a solid softball interest (bunting, slapping, stealing, squeeze performs take place in practically each interest)

Not all guys think softball is a waste of time. I play tournaments and league from March-October. Whoever is telling you that must be arrogant, or immature.
