Yes there is a tourist rate and a commercial rate. If you look in the financial pages of newspapers, such as the Daily Telegraph, you will see both rates listed side by side in their financial section.
The commercial rate is the better one but for the relitively small amount that the average tourist changes to cover holiday expenses the difference does not amount to much. However, if you were to change £1000's it would make a big difference.

Yes this is true.
We are a business and are quoted different rates according to how much we convert.
Watch out on the tourist rates too, these change from one dealer to another. Hotel rates tend to be poor.
