I believe these are sparrows nests. This has been an ongoing problem, but I had hoped the birds would fly south for the winter to allow me to remove them before spring. But the mild winter through the beginning of January has prompted the birds to remain. Will I be attacked if I try to remove the nest? If I remove the nest, will they simply rebuild it? Can I place something behind the shutter (such as cat hair) that will keep the birds from rebuilding? This has become a problem, with my 2 year old waking up extremely early almost every morning due to the birds chirping at the crack of dawn.

There's a wive's tale that if you touch a bird's nest or eggs, the birds won't return. In any event, you could take the nests and transplant them to a nearby tree. I doubt the birds will rebuild their nest in the same spot if they even abandon the transplanted old nest. You could try temporarily packing the empty spot where the nest was with someething such as styra-foam to prevent the birds from rebuilding in that spot.

Good luck

If there are no babies, get the nest out and then fill the cavities with steel wool. They will keep coming back to the same nesting sight unless there is a deterrent. Steel wool is one way. If these are decorative shutters, try discreetly using foam caulking along the edges to seal up any entrances they might use. Also get a fake owl to hang near those windows. That helps keep birds away. If all else fails, teach the kids to enjoy nature's wake-up call, use the extra hours you are getting each day and put the kids to bed earlier.

see, don't throw their nest but, make a another shelter for them and put it in a park which is far away with their parents . so that the eggs & parent bird do not separate & your children will not be disturbed

get a stick and knock the nest down, and keep knocking it down. and sure they will attack you, they will call all their other bird friends and if they get enough they will carry you away, then come back for your 2 year old and raise it as their own.
