for two nights, Feb. 16 and the 23. What should I do/see while I'm there? Staying in a hotel near the airport. Thanks in advance!

Depends on what you like to do. Lots of theatre in town at that time, including TWELVE ANGRY MEN with Richard Thomas and George Wendt. The symphony and ballet are also in gear, with excellent programs. If you like fine art, Houston is the only city in the US that is hosting the Masterworks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection (at the Museum of Fine Arts). The other museums in the area are also pretty popular, and the zoo is right there also. You can also check schedules for the local basketball, hockey, and soccer teams. If you want to shop, try The Galleria, although megamalls are plentiful in the area. Of course, you could always drive down to see NASA or Galveston. I like to take people to the Cockrell Butterfly Center in the museum district--live butterflies all around you, which freaks some people out (which can be half the fun!). And lots of good restaurants--ask at the hotel for some recommendations on Tex-Mex and BBQ. See if you can get a copy of the Houston Chronicle at your hotel--the Thursday edition has lots of listings for things to do.

The weather is still a tad chilly and rainy, but if you're from the North, you might find it very comfortable. And you'll have to rent a car to get around--not much in the way of public transport.

There's not much going on around either of the two airports. Houston has beautiful sport stadiums and all of Feb. is rodeo month, so expect Texas tradition to be riding high... also expect great ribs and barbeque. There are many clubs and restaurants inside the loop with great live music. If you like malls, go to the Galleria Mall. ( in the loop ) Many wealthy women from Mexico City love to come to Houston just to go to the Galleria. And, you will be very near two great restaurants... the Cheesecake Factory and Willie G's Seafood. Both Pappasita's and Ninfa's Restaurants turn out some awesome Mexican food.... but really, there are many great Mexican restaurants here. If you have time, walk the sea wall in Galveston. ( about an hour's drive away) There aren't many people there in Feb. Galveston has some really old Victorian homes that offer tours. Definitely rent a car... but beware of Houston drivers. Over 100 languages are spoken here... and the driving habits are just as diverse. I hope you have a nice stay. Next visit... get a hotel downtown. You'll be within walking distance of great restaurants and clubs.

Which airport? We have two major airports here (Bush Intercontinental to the north and Hobby to the south).

What are your interests? There are tons of things to do, but I wouldn't want to give you a bum steer.
