Hi not sure if you can do that but I have a netgear wireless router and a belkin gaming adapter linked to my 360. Do you know why your old router broadcasts but won't connect to the internet. Here is what you can try.Plug your old router into your pc and 'ping' it. If you don't know how to do this then here goes.

Connect the old router to your pc wired through the ethernet cable. make sure all the settings are as they wold be if you was still using the router with the pc. If its netgear the ip address should be set as 192.168.0.1 With me so far, ok. Go to start on pc, programmes, accessories and then hit command prompt. You will see a little curser flashing. Type
ping 192.168.0.1 then hit the enter . Don't forget the space between ping and 192. Basically your pc is sending a message to your router and back again. If this doesn't work it means your router is no good. Try it with your new router first to try it. You must know the ip address of the router or your wasting your time.

You can try this on your new router either wired or wireless. Try it on the old router wired and then wireless. If it is ok wired but not wireless then you got something wrong on your wireless settings or its faulty. I just tried it wireless on my laptop and it works fine, responding with no loss of data.

If this works you may be able to connect the old router to the 360 but you must re-configure the old router with a different ip address. Try something like 192.168.0.19. You will also need to know the mac address of the old router and 360. In your access list on the new router you can set up the old router and 360 via the mac addresses and make sure you have them allowed in the allow list. I have my netgear dg834 router set as a dhcp server which means ip addresses are issued automaically but I reserve an ip address for all the devices attached to my network.

Reserve ip address for old router as above and make the 360 say 192.168.0.20. Switch old router on and see if it shows in your attached devices bit on your new router. I assume you know how to access this through internet explorer. Switch on the 360 and go to network settings. Make sure ip and dns are set to automatic. Whe you are trying all this make sure your security is disabled. You can make it secure later when you know everything works. If your succesful the ip address/mac address of the 360 will show as attached in your attached list on the new router.

It all sounds a bit complicated but it quite easy. Just make sure you do it a step at a time. I do suspect though that you got a wireless falt on the old router. The other way would just be to run a long cable from wherever the router is to the 360. I intend to hard wire mine as soon a I get my hands on some nice ethernet wall plates

If you try and configure the 350 with manual ip settings you may have problems with NAT. Let me know how you get on. Not sure if my email is on here but if not you can get met at

have you ever tried connecting your 360 into the Belkin router you've already got? i do not see why it shouldn't paintings, all routers might want to paintings effective with all Ethernet ports. i have not in any respect heard of any router that works with USB. I also don't have self belief the XBOX can use USB modems or routers (in the adventure that they exist) because they ought to not have the acceptable drivers. it is now unlikely to paintings with USB.
