Who has read Uncle "Tom's Cabin"? Is that not a phenominal book?

I read it on a whim as a kid and I remember crying a lot and loving it. For some crazy reason we did not have to read it in school. I should read it again since it's been years.

One book I liked, although I wouldn't say it's better, is 'Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All'. It's historical fiction about the American South, race, etc.. Apparently it was hugely popular in the early 90s. I found a copy on the street one day and read it and loved it. I thought it was going to be cheesy but it's good.

An Uncle Tom is a Black person who seeks the approval of Whites at the expense of allowing himself or herself to be degraded. He or she is the type of person that a White boss, for example, can use as a token and can also use to help another Black person get fired or in trouble. Uncle Toms would rather be White.
