I was out last night with work colleagues and a girl who I work with said she wanted to clear the air (I thought everything was ok). She said to me:

She wants us to get on - at work and outside
Told me that I should drop the 'attitude'
She wants to trust me and hopes that I don't back stab her e.g. talk about her behind her back
She wants us to get to know each other better

When we're alone we find it difficult to talk to each other and it goes silent ASAP.(happened today at work!)

Each time we talk, I find it more uncomfortable/difficult as I don't know what to say! She's asked if I'd go to her birthday bash in a few weeks - I don't know what to say???

Why did she feel the need to 'clear the air'???
Suggestions on how to deal with this???

p.s. we do flirt with each other and she has a Boyfriend of 2 years.Colleagues say we have a love/hate WORK relationship

you really know how to pick them don't you? my answer is that she is a, saying that she doesn't want to break up her relationship, but wants to play. b, she thinks that you should get over yourself, nothing happened, c, she wants to get it on. d, she hopes that you will be mature about your little affair to be and wont tell anyone. listen to your colleagues, there are probably right. the mood changes because there is tension. do something either leave or stay, my answer is leave and do like that person says find yourself someone different to flirt with, preferably single, no ties. etc. that is if your that type of guy. you've been there before, you should know how the music sounds.

OK, I think you should ask your self the following questions:

Are you sending this person mixed messages?

Oh in fact that's the only question. If she has a boyfriend and is off limits to you then bliming well communicate better cos frankly you're rubbish innit.

she could of course be seeking escape. But that's unfair to involve anyone else. If she doesn't want her boyfriend she should get rid of him first before looking for another person. Actually men are usually the ones that try to make their new bed before leaving the old one.

My advice is RUN AWAY. I think you'll find that's the best advice although you may prefer a more consumer friendly version. mamby pamby liberal version of the truth that neither here nor there. FULL STOP!!!!!!

I find your situation nice, It shows that boys do have problems talking and mixing with girls. Most of us guys just try to ignore the problems.
What to do, yes go to the party, treat the girl like you would say one of your mates, talk about your car, motorbike, computer etc. She feels that you are pushing her away, which of course you are but you do not want to, you are a little bit "scared" of her.
She also feels the same, interaction with guys she feels is difficult. Suggest for example that she goes with you as you want to get a new shirt / sweater/ and so forth.
The fact that both of you are having problems communicating is an indictment on the system.
Play your cards right and you could have a friend, soulmate, partner for life.
Afraid? dont be 'cos she has the same hang ups.
I you still feel uncomfortable, copy this and show it to her, at least it will break the ice.

Thats a tough one.
She has some issue going on there. 1. You may have done or said something that has put her on the defensive, yet she still wants a relationship. 2. She may have been burned before, in a relationship. or 3. She wants a relationship, but feels guilty about destroying the one whith her present bf, and thus is fabricating reasons not to continue here.
Thats just three possibilities. One would have to know you both, and to talk with you, in order to make any valid comment.
Be sincere and honest. See where it takes you.

It sounds like she's hearing things from your co-workers. They are giving her their 2 cents and she's getting confused about this gossip.

If you two are flirting and she has a boyfriend of 2 years than

1: She needs to break up with him before you guys have anymore conversations alone.

2: Do you really think it's smart to flirt/possibly date someone who would do this to her current boyfriend?

Get a grip and keep it strictly work. No play.

Go find someone else to flirt with.

I think she is giving you the nod that she would like to be asked out on a Date with you. You dont know what the situation is as regards Her Boyfriend and are giving Her conflicting signals Toying with Her, She is confused and wants you to put Her out of Her misery and make a decision. She looks like She wants to give Her Boyfriend the Heave Ho and just keeps him with Her for the Company and Nothing else. He is like a bad habit that she is trying to get rid of.So it is over to you make youre mind up do you or dont you want this Girl.

never mind what the colleagues say - what do you think? do you like this girl? I think she was hoping for a different response from you. go on, give her a birthday present she'll remember. doesn't sound like she wants her boyfriend anymore. its always the same - be rude to the ones you fancy - it's a defense mechanism!
