I wanna first off categorically state that I am NOT suddenly a Cena mark.

However, it seems a lot ofpeople are jumping on him because it has been the cool and fashionable thing to do, and to hate on Cena makes ppl think you must be "in the know" about the sport of wrestling.

I must admit, I myself fell victim to this.

Like little girls liking crap boybands in mindless, brainwashed droves simply cos it is the "in thing" I hated on Cena, even booed the sh it outta him at a live event in November.

Now I know his character sucks, and he hasn't done much in the ring but he is the top face in the company, whe this happens the repertoire and character are watered down for the casual fan.

is this Cena's fault? Partially, but he only has so much creative influence ffs. Blame the poor booking decisions.

From seeing clips of him in OVW as Prototype and his early matches agaisnt Angle (yes admittedly he was helped and carried by the greatest wrestler alive) the guy does have talent.

Do I think he is the greatest wrestler alive and worthy of the title? No, but I don't think he is the worst either. Both are extreme ridiculous statements. I hate both his mindless marks and sheep haters equally.

I have been a victim of being a scapegoat in the past and it petrifies me to think i did the same to him.

The spinner belt and him having the title pisses me off, but it isn't all his faul. He could say something, but come on give the guy a break.

I became exactly what I hate, a sheep, a bully.

And through all the underrating he has to endure by being called "crap", he ahs reacted with dignity and class.

He many not be a world class athlete, but he sure has world class honour.

And anyone who hates him for non wrstling reasons and over reatcs to his in ring talent should b ashamed.of temselves.

with a new character, and some expansion on his ability, maybea heel turn, I could conceivably be a fan of his and see him as a main eventer.

right now I consider him IC material, and feel he should be where Carlito is now, maybe swicth places with him if you will.

However, I jumped on the bandwagon and am now gonna make amends.

Does he have flaws? Yes, but who doesn't, we all go crazy for DX FFS who are a joke and should never have been allowed to return.

People just get reputations and some people are viewed asperfect and others no matter what they do are never accepted.

Don't fall into this trap

First of all, very good question and i can see that you are a big wrestling fan from the facts.

Now, it is easy to hate cena because its cool, but its not like everyone hates him,
ok so he gets booed more than any face champ in history but for every boo there are atleast 3-4 cheers

Now, i dont care about cutting promos, Cena is very good at doing these but that doesnt get you to the top, unless your the Rock or Shawn Michaels, but they are real athletes.

When it coomes to wrestling, well he is no agle benoit, lets say that, but i would grade him higher than IC champ, maybe if he hadnt had the success he had then I could say that he should be there,

Its hard, because Cena was a victim of circumstance. They were no big faces available for a push at the title and cena was one of the most popular in teh WWE before he got the push,

He probably should have been kept at IC level for longer, but instead what we have is a champ that is hated my some but loved by many so it is hard.

I say! give someone else the title and let Cena job around with meaning less feauds for a while.

GREAT Q

There's allways been a "franchise" player in every era of wrestling. Cena is the franchise at this present time. he probably sells double what any other wrestler does except maybe DX. Therefore he's given the top spot.

That will probably piss all you purist off but at the end of the day WWE is a business first and foremost. Its not about improving the product, it's about improving the figures. If you want wrestling like it used to be unitl recently watch TNA - but even thats gone a bit down hill recently.

well i think he has the potential. but he's just too early to be the top guys of the idustrial.
he should have stay as the us champ for longer. wwe overated him.
he was oushed in a sense hes like superman.
eee..
probably i don't blame him,
its just the writer thatr shd be at fault.
its a huge margin, when we compare the past champion, to the presents.
the rock, hhh, steve austin (past)
rey, eddie, cena, edge (presence)
no offense, but the bulild up of the champs now,
is just way too pathetic.
