In the device manager right click on the LiteOn drive and say uninstall. Once its gone restart the machine and windows should redetect the drive and use the standard built in driver.

If there is still an exclamation then your problem is more than likely caused by the BIOS or a third party driver. Ask someone to test the drive in their computer just incase.

If the drive appears in device manager with no exclaimation then burn a disk with it and copy some stuff to your hard drive. If that all works your drive is still good.

If you know the drive is still good, and the exclamation returns, then you know that the problem is either to do with the BIOS or with a 3rd party driver. If your computers Cmos settings have been reset for some reason and you have Serial ATA built into your motherboard then check the settings of the SATA controller in the CMOS (check your motherboard manual). This is maybe the point where you should call a PC technician.

If that is correct then the problem is with a 3rd party driver. Any software you installed recently or removed recently may be causing this, in which case you'll have to fiddle a bit or research the applications you recently uninstalled or added. At this point calling a PC technician is probably a good idea.

If as you say the light on your cd rom is working then it can only mean two things first ...it could be that the cd rom is broken....second you might have to reinstall your cd rom....by using a driver to get it started you should have had one when you bought the computer..if you dont have one you can down load one from the internet it doesn't cost anything....ok..PS....First of all do a hard ware check from the control panal....
