The smell of either Tabu or Bonnie Bell's Musk. They are the perfumes my mother always wore. I can be at the movies or something and smell someone wearing on of those and BAM, I'm home with mom again.

Cherry pipe tobacco smells like my next-door neighbor's dad, when I was growing up. It always takes me right back. Also, the smell of a pot roast with carrots and potatoes, just like my dad used to make, is another that carries me away.

When I smell carnations, I remember my uncle's funeral when I was 10 years old. He was a cab driver and very well liked, there were more flowers at his funeral than I have ever seen at any other funeral since.
