National Forgiveness Day. One day when we treat each other with a little more tolerance and acceptance. Sort of like a day of amnesty for past wrongs and hurt feelings. Hey, the library does it every now and then and see all the overdue books it brings in. Hallmark could go crazy with the idea. "Roses are red, Violets are blue, We all make mistakes, And I still like you." The Hatfields and McCoys would come into town in their old beat up pick-ups and buy each other a beer. Vikings and Packers fans would wear each others colors. Jews and Muslims would realize they can sit down together and order off the same menu. The possibilities are endless. At least for a day, the past could be forgotten and a new day of forgiveness could dawn with all the pomp and falderal worthy of an excuse to hug each other and get a little tipsy. " Here's that lawnmower you loaned me five years ago, Jed. Sorry I kept it for so long. Forgive me?" National ball of string day has already been taken.

The Day of Make Believe. Everyone gets to pretend to be someone else for the day; looks and behaviors! August 13; there aren't any holidays in August so it's a good time for one.

Terrific answers from Monitorhead and Gyorzxk here.
While I'm tempted to go along with Bill Hicks (aren't I always?!) and introduce "No Sympathy Night", and "You're Wrong Night", where essentially everyone has to shut up and listen to me(!), I think I'd ultimately go for an annual "Solve This Mother" day.

Would work like this. Leaders of the world, locked in a room and told they're not allowed out until they've agreed a fair and univerally equitable solution to one of the world's major problems. If it's not solved to the satisfaction of the majority of the world's population (voting to be internet based, cos we KNOW Bill Gates wants every dwelling in the world to be wired up for digitial access!), the Roman process of decimation to be brought into play, and one world leader out of every ten gets executed.

Could work on a community level too. Problems between neighbours? Lock 'em in a shed with the instruction to "Solve this mother" and no food or drink until they've resolved their issues. Hell, it could be made to coincide with Superbowl Sunday - guarantee you that'd solve problems in double quick time!

It's just a concept, and I need to develop it. Not sure what I would call it, but it would be a day that we celebrate our good fortune and our bounty...we would have feasts with family and friends....maybe get the NFL to have a couple football games on the tube....maybe have it during the week to encourage people to take a few days off work....etc.

I think something like this could catch on, you know.

Universal day, where all the beings from different Galaxies would come here on earth to celebrate their diversity and exchange with one another...! I know it might sound utopic but we could always start with humans that way and then I'm sure they would join along seeing the great example we are showing , and wouldn't be afraid to come in secret!!!

Bill Day.

It would be a floating holiday that would be invoked annually at my discretion. Governments would recognize it, schools would shut down, businesses would have to pay you for it and let you off.

All I would have to do is call the media and say "okay, it's tomorrow. I want to sleep in," and that would be it.

Oh, yes. It would be traditional to buy me presents and send me cards with money and stuff.

Ordinary People Day. In school, kids would learn about ordinary people and the trials and travails they endured just so they could enjoy their ordinary lives. Every city and town would pick an ordinary person and celebrate their ordinariness with much fan fare and pageantry...but not too much, just an ordinary amount.

The ordinary are the majority, and we need to celebrate these people...cause without them doing their ordinary things, the world wouldn't be such an extraordinary place.

Super Bowl Sunday... it'll be a day to honor dreams and teamwork and celebration of your fellow man. It'll be a day where men and women, north and south, east and west, black or white, rich and poor, can all come together and cheer thier hearts out and appreciate, that for a moment, you and millions are one.

It'll be a day where the word is feast, where you will have nothing of the foods that bring oyu down, no green salads, no reduced fat anything, only foods that bring joy, and foods that you'll be proud to share amongst your closes friends and family.

It'll be a day where grudges will be forgotten and a day that will be equal oppurtunity for all. It will be spoken of for ages, people will reminensce of past Super Bowl Sundays and eagerly await in anticipation of super bowls yet to come... the thought of the super bowls of your children's children will bring a smile to your face as you and everyone aroun you, now have something to tlak about, to share, a silent mutual agreement that we... love... because we're human.

ps: colts for the win, young, HUNGRY team, almost all rookies, I want them to win!

Diversity Day
Everyone could celebrate their differences.
There would be festivals in every major city with booths for any group that wanted to participate. Soliciting would not be allowed. Afterwards we could have a grand festival in the streets.

Great question! I have always wanted to go on a world tour! The places I would especially like to visit are Paris in the Spring, the Swiss Alps for some skiing, an African safari where the magical lions are not shy, the Norweigan Fijords...Jamaica for a reggae party, Russia, to explore the mystery and see the ballet, then a spiritual tour of India, on to Bali, then to a tea ceremony in Japan....via Hong Kong to Australia.....to the opera house in Sydney and to the barrier reef....and then to the carnival in Rio!!

Thank you for this opportunity to indulge my day dreams!!
