Danny Elfman and Tim Burton reportedly argued between the Nightmare before Christmas and Mars Attacks. In between that time, Howard Shore scored Ed Wood the movie, instead of Danny Elfman.

I was interested in learning whether anyone knows what they argued about- I mean other than 'creative differences.' Thanks!

I couldn't find anything on the internet about a feud between the two of them. A couple of sites hinted at a feud, but gave no details as of what caused it.

I know Elfman's darker music usually blends well with Burton's darker movies, BUT they do not always work together and that doesn't mean they had an argument.

The time between "Nightmare" and "Mars" was only three years and during that time Elfman had at least 13 other projects he worked on.

I have to say Tim Burton is somewhat of a God in the film-making business...and it's not a Tim Burton film without Danny Elfman's music. The only movie I haven't seen that you listed is Sleepy Hollow, but other than that...I could watch those movies until my head started spinning, and then still watch them. Nightmare Before Christmas NEVER gets old, but I have to Edward Scissorhands is a bit above that due to the fact that Johnny Depp just makes me want to love him and give him a hug that ENTIRE movie. Besides that, I got Beetlejuice for my birthday so that just tells you even more how much I love these kinds of movies...You don't want to even get me started on the Batman movies....

Tim Burton was heard to say "Oingo Boingo" sucks. This really irritated Danny.
