No because he's been eating the bodies of the passengers who died in the crash (like the federal marshall). Also he pigged out on junkfood before the hatch exploded AND there's been at least one massive food drop.

If it were an ordinary island, yes.
But, down in the hatch is a huge pantry. Not to mention the fish, wild game, tropical fruit trees.
As far as that goes...I'm not sure everyone who gets "put down" makes it in the ground in one piece. Boone burgers and Ana a L'orange, anyone?
