It's your gateway to the Internet - usually your modem. But it usually refers to the modem in a modem/router and you should have a little icon on your taskbar that tells you the speed of the gateway. Mine says 8 mbs, I wish! LOL But that icon tends to disappear when not in use - but you can right click your task bar and uncheck the box that says hide inactive icons - if you want to see them all.

Gateway internet connection is a connection that is not firewalled. So the gateway connection can be enabled to anyone enter your network.

usually your isp. you log on and then you can go anywhere you want...unlike AOL which is a walled garden... you can only go where they want to let you...
