When you're going about your everyday life, use pencil eyeliner, just put it inside your eye, not under, if you put it under it'll look weird, and try to make it as light as possible at first. If you want something more, put a little liquid eyeliner over your eye, before you put the mascara, and don't make the line thick, make it really thin, and you can put shadow after that, grey would bring out your eyes since yours are brown, make the shadow dark on the low above your eye and then gradually light.
I used to have the same problem when I first started putting make up on, but then I got used to it.

Hey!
I have light olive skin, dark hair (but green eyes!) and it can be tough for a girl with our kind of complexion!
I don't know if I can mention brand names here. so I won't!
My BEST advice:
#1 - go to those department store make up counters and have a colour consultation done! There may be a nominal fee, or you may have to buy something (and they WILL try to sell you the world, that's their job afterall!) They always have some good ideas....
#2 - start with a clean canvas...is the skin under your eyes a little bit darker than the rest of your face? Find a concealer in YELLOW - yup...YELLOW...and put it under your eyes, then layer with a concealer closer to your skin tone. I'm not much of one for foundations...they never ever match, so I use a power.
#3 - Apply a light base (like a matte canvas kind of colour) from lashline to brow (no shimmery colours or you'll look like a disco queen!) put a darker shade in the crease (earthy browns look best on me, but you can use tons of colours here...sometimes I use green, or blue or violet - for this, shimmer is allowed) And blend upwards and out. Last put a light shade along the inner corner of your lash line, and the inner corner of you brow line. Blend Blend Blend....
When shopping for colours, always try them out on the inside of your wrist, which is the skin that most closly resembles your face!

Hi, I'm a make-up artist but I really have no time to answer to your question right now, it takes more than just knowing the eye color and hair color. Those two things aren't even important when applying eye make-up...
If you want please check my website, look under gallery where you can find photos of my work and I also explained what colors I applied there, maybe you can find a similar skin / hair to yours and see on an example.
Also write me an email, I'll be happy to help you out, I really gotta go now, sorry!

the way i put mine on is by taking a darker color that matches your shirt and put one line right above the eyelashes and then take a pretty lighter color to go with the first one and put it on the rest of your eyelid then if you really want to make it stick out you could buy some mascara and touch it up a little!!!

You might think it looks weird, it might not be as bad as you think. Ask a friend's opinion whom you trust and who's makeup looks good. Try a professional also, go to department stores or boutiques. It can be a lot of fun when the makeup artist isn't rushed or are really into their jobs.
