Can I pick neither? And pick to save somebody instead? Because I would never want to kill anybody - and I wouldn't ever want to be killed. I would rather just want to die one day than be killed.

If I had to choose one I'd rather kill. Kill an insect for that matter as you had not specified. Although, I think that killing be it an insect or human is an equal crime before God.

It depends on the situation. If someone try to harm my family or love ones, to protected them, then I'll do anything in my power to defense for them, even I have to kill or be killed. There is no doubt about my love and sacirfies for my family and my love ones.
