Read to him - and discuss what you read in the newpapers - you will up his grade average significantly . Also play classicla music in the house - especially Mozart - it will help with concentration and the most important is to be a loving parent because stress will hinder any chance of being a good learner

there are 5 kinds of food that can make kids smarter. I do not remember all of them but I remember pistachio oil, eggs n milk (or any other food rich in protein)

There is no such thing as a "dumb" or "stupid kid" because everyone is intelligent at something! It depends whether that kid is willing to give 110% of his/her efforts to achieve success. If a kid was careless then he/she wouldn't bother working hard and that is not dumb, it just shows that this kid needs to set his/her priorities straight.
