I recently got into a conversation with a seeminly intelligent young man, 18 years of age to be exact, and we started discussing the War on Terror, etc... Then out of nowhere he pulled this one on me "9/11 was an inside job, the US government brought down the twin towers to boost the economy and justify a war over oil and capital."

Needless to say I was dumbfounded for a moment but I picked my jaw up off the carpet and tried my best to convince him otherwise of his ignorance. There are so many things wrong with a scenario like the one he described that I am not even going to bother writing down the inumerable ways in which it can be proven DEAD WRONG. I am just wondering, have any of you ran into one of these brainwashed fools too? I thought they only existed on MTV and other low forms of popular entertainment but alas maybe it's a spreading disease of idiosy, who knows?

Good research isn't bringing up google and typing in "Conspiracy theory 9/11" I see a link to wikipedia telling me about an American plan to kill it's own people. Wow, for a country and has put thousands at risk to save 1 of it's own..... Yeah I'm not even going to complete the rest of that you can draw your own conclusions. If they had done "Good research" They would know that everything that has to do with these theories (which they, nothing but crazy theories) is either a lie or taken out of context.

I'm a train conductor in NY/NJ. That was a crazy/scary day. I have spoken to many people like that. The funny part is that none of them were there. None of them are from the area. They just watch TV and listen to these other fools that have nothing to do but stir the pot. Some people just have nothing better to do with there lives. Its really kind of sad!

Let me put my answer in a bit of a different way. Which is worse, him for thinking maybe our government had some hand in 9/11 or you for completely closing your mind to the possibility? Let's face some facts. Our government has a history of doing some pretty dirty dealings, we've overthrown governments covertly, started coups in order to protect business interests. Helped insert the Shaw of Iran into power for oil and even ousted a CIA agent as a vendetta against her husband. We have yet to put either Kennedy assassination to rest for good. The Martin Luther King Jr. assassination is still a mystery for many people. Will we ever know the truth of these matters? I believe the problems start when the scientific facts don't match the "truths" of the investigations. Why did our government deny the existence of any UFO files and then release project blue book, which only fanned the flames even more? What I'm basically saying is I don't just completely dismiss anything without first trying to examine to the best of my ability that which I don't believe.

Everyone has a theory...theories are like @$$ holes; everyone has one, and they all stink!

I think the "Inside job" theory is ridiculous. Why would they attack the Pentagon, as well?

Equally ridiculous is the "Jewish/Israel " theory, in which the Jews attacked the buildings, and someone called all of the Jews who worked at the Twin Towers complex, and told them not to go to work that day.

Some people cannot distinguish between real and fantasy.

Note to the Anti-Semite: Jewish people are a big part of American culture, as are Mexican people. Putz!

ZIONISTS/NEOCONS scared of the truth, they keep on feeding Americans "cat nips" and hope they'll never sober up .
It's obvious this lame pro-Israeli is a disgrace of naked immorality!
=====================================
To no_strings
You typify the Zionist arrogance, reading your answer made me almost puke when you said " WE BUILT this country.." the Jews participated in the US glory as much the Mexican did.. don't falter yourself...
Here's an advice, look at history , look how the Jews get rewarded for meddling in the host country affairs and learn. I can list a few countries for your moronic narrow mind : Pol land, France, Spain , Holland and of course the ARAB world...
Be prepared for the awakening my good friend, the US will shake off the leeches!

Never had the pleasure of running in to one of these people face to face, and I thank my lucky stars every day.

However if I did I would have to correct them... Don't they know the real culprits of 9/11 were the evil radioactive monkeys that live on the international space station?

they run the world bank, Starbucks and Wal mart! They are attempting to take over the world using low low prices and over priced caffeinated drinks!

I cant wait to correct their terrible misconceptions on who is really behind 9/11.... man, they will be shocked to the core.

it was the monkey... them and their prehensile tails...

Beware the Monkeys....

Liberals very seldom base anything they believe on facts, instead it is all about their feelings.Libs HATE Pres.Bush more than they hate the Islamic radicals,so they blame Bush instead.Libs are not sharp enough to realize these radicals want to KILL all non believers.Libs always are telling us how dumb Bush is,but some how he was able to trick the Clintons,John Kerry,Teddy Kennedy, etc into voting for a regime change policy for Iraq in 1998.Always remember, the dems always talk real tough when campaigning, but when things get a little tough, they cut and run.(anyone remember the millions that were slaughtered after the libs got us out of Vietnam, the same will be true if we leave Iraq too soon)

I hear it all the time, Wako lefts strike again. I am hearing more and more of how the Jews did it. its amazeing how people can get one sorce of info and take it as Fact. its seems more and more this country is all about blameing the jews and christians for everything. when they are the people who founded this great country. everyone seems to want to "nagotiate" with the real killers, I ask again how do you nagotiate with a person whos only goal is your distruction? 9/11 was not the first attack. Clinton turned his head.

In my opinion, the government is capable of anything. Especially something as unbelievable as this. I have watched the movies, "Loose Change", and I'm not exactly falling for it but it does help me take a closer look at what happened.

But when I hear people talk about how they believe it's a conspiracy, I don't think they are fools, if anything they are just good researchers.

well, i'll answer since i'm an idiot. yeah, i've seen very good reasons to believe it was an inside job. i distrusted the whole situation from the start, because NORAD failed to respond. it turns out that instinct was quite justified when it comes to NORAD's response, but what's more, it appears that thermate was used to bring the towers down. perhaps you should do some digging. it's difficult to find good info, however... there is a lot of drivel out there but a few nuggets of (what might be) truth. I guess the key points to me are that traces of thermate were found, video tape and photos show what looks like a thermate reaction taking place in a tower before collapse, the buildings collapsed (first time skyscrapers fell from fire, ever), WTC 7 collapsed for apparently no reason, and the catastrophe was not adequately investigated, rather the evidence was cut up and shipped to asia. NORAD usually escorts hijacked planes down.

I have little clue as to who would have done such a thing, though. It's not necessarily the "U.S. government", and it's not necessarily an 'evil' thing. Hard to say from down here. There are important changes happening in the world as we reach the technological asymptote.
