The movie industry is VERY protective of their rights - and most movies come out later in EU and in the rest of the world than in the US (and DVD suffer the same delay) - hence the reason for netflix not available out of the US - or at least not with the same items.
You can try ITune shop if you want to download some recent movies and so on - but if you want access to the american stuff in EU you must have a US resident credit card... It is checked at the setting up of the order, and if the billable address is not in the US it is not accepted.

I was up to episode 6 of Dexter on Netflix and wanted to watch again today. Dexter now comes up as unavailable. I've searched the internet and so far nothing to explain why it is not on my instant que and no where on netflix! I'm sad!

Nefflix is availble in more than 99 countries, i do not know of any other companies like Netflix at this time
