It sound like it maybe mange, this is an infestation of fur mites, which can cause a rabbit's skin to become itchy, with white particles like dandruff appearing in its fur. In some cases, the rabbit will lose its fur in areas of heavy infestation. Also called walking dandruff.A condition in rabbits when one or both eyes tear continuously. The fur on the cheek below the runny eye often will be matted. Sometimes this is not a sign of illness; a rabbit's eyes might have been irritated by too strong a cleaning solvent in their cage, such as ammonia, In some cases, this condition is due to a blocked tear duct, which can be caused by debris, injury, or heredity. In other cases, runny eye is a symptom of an allergy. Runny eye can also be a sign of a bacterial infection, such as Pasteurellosis. Also called conjunctivitis, epiphora, or weepy eye.
but you should get your rabbit to the vet to get checked out, he will pprobably give it some antibacterial scrub called hibiscrub,
hope this helped,

Come on! Would you post a question on this site if you had a sore eye - you'd get to the doctor's surgery. Your animal is suffering with an eye infection and will most probably be miserable. Get to the vet right now. How could you let a little creature suffer - you have a responsibility.

Don't listen to other people when they say to take the rabbit tot he vet! What your rabbit has is a small eye infection, easily fixed So let easily take care of it!.

There is this really easy home remedy where you take a tea bag and use it like a compress on the rabbit's eye (and yes it works I have used it before).

What you have to do is use a warm tea bag, wring it out, but leave moisture in it (so it is damp to slightly wet).

Hold that tea bag on the rabbit's eye for around 1 1/2-2 mins. and then take it off. Put the rabbit back in its cage for a little while and let the tea bag take effect.

You should do this for about a weeks wort of time (or until it clears up), 2 times a day. As well, make sure you are keeping the eye clean by taking out the animal and cleaning off any type of goop or crust that forms. That you can take care of by placing a damp paper towel on the eye and slowly working the goop off. Don't just pull it off cause if it is dried on the rabbit, then it will hurt when you pull it off, and you don't want to hurt the rabbit.(Sorta like whr you have to pull off a bandaid that has been on for way to long and it hurts to pull it off)

Anyway after about a week, or evn sooner in some cases it should clear up. This is the method I use all the time to treat any type of eye problems, and it works for me.

Remember though, the way you exmplained it it sounds like a small infection. But if it does not get better, or grows into a big infection then you should take the rabbit to a vet just so you can get the proper medicaine to deal with a stronger bacteria.

Hope that helped!

Could be two things: Lop-ears often have runny eyes, and there is nothing wrong with that, unless it gets infected (then the stuff running out will be white in stead of colourless). However, it could also be his teeth. Rabbits' teeth are continually growing and should wear of naturally. However, sometimes the teeth don't exactly close on each other and they won't wear down. That will cause him a lot of pain and trouble to eat so you should take him to the vet as soon as possible to have dental treatment.

He needs a vet. It could be something in his eye (rabbits don't produce tears like we do, and that can cause problems if something is in his eye), or he may have an ulcer (VERY painful), or he could have conjunctivitis or even a bacterial infection. I've had rabbits come in with what appeared to be mild eye problems that have ended up dying from them - sick rabbits, especially when they are showing physical signs of pain such as holding an eye shut, need a vet. Forget trying to fix it with home remedies - if you care that your rabbit is in pain, take it to a vet.

Use a tea-bag!! I've not hear such rubbish in a long time.

I know quite a few responsible breeders and not one would suggest such a thing. All would say get a proper diagnoses and treatment from a person QUALIFIED to do such.

Your rabbit needs to see a rabbit-savvy vet and not be condemned
to useless treatments that WILL NOT WORK but will prolong it's suffering. Not to see a vet is outright cruel and inhumane.

If it is an infection it will need proper medication not "snake-oil".

For a rabbit-savvy vet please see the 5th link below.
