Only if the someone else would just end up throwing their happiness away. Most of us have been in a situation where we made a sacrifice for someone else only to watch them screw it up and throw their lives away anyway.

I know people do that! I know they do it for a couple of reasons; selfish, or ignorant. It is mostly the selfish who commit this damnable act.
Myself? I find it hard to sleep at night when my own dog is troubled. My wife's happiness makes my day, and I can't find forty seven good reasons to do well on the misery of another. I can't even find one for myself. I can only cite two reasons for the misery of another to create ones own happiness; selfishness or ignorance.
Now I admit I can be naive on some subjects but not this. When you create a happy atmosphere for others then you are truly happy yourself.
What affects my neighbour affects me.No I would not be happy at the expense of someone else.

Not at all (in general)

However if others are becoming happy for any negative reason and their such negative happiness is the hurdle for a good cause ... then I don't mind to do efforts for the good to happen at the cost of others (negative happiness)

An example : A person is there who enjoys his high ego and takes pleasure in putting obstacles for the progress of his fellow beings and also enjoys commenting others creative humble ideas ...in such a case We can't pay attention for all the things he was doing and even though he can't enjoy, we do not stop progressing in our efforts.
