BBC radio 4. Funny, informative and strangely comforting.

There is no "right" answer to this question; it just depends on taste. Personally I am happy with BBC radios 2, 3 and 4.
BBC Radio 4 is nearly 100% speech and has 'proper' programmes; not just presenters hosting phone-ins or studio guests. BBC Radio 3 is THE place for classical music, and there is also a reasonable amount of jazz and world music as well. BBC Radio 2 is also an excellent station which (at various times) carries everything from pop and rock to light classical and just about everything in between. Best programmes are on weekday evenings when there are usually intelligent programmes discussing history of different types of music (in recent months there have been series on big-band swing, soul, reggae, etc.)

Radio 5 live UK.

No wallpaper music. No boring idiot dj's...apart from Nicky Campbell, but he's done by 9.00am.

Meant to be just news and sport but is in reality a lot more than that and it is broadcasting in the best BBC tradition.

There's no real answer to that question. There are literally thousands of radio stations in this country alone and millions of listeners.

I guess it's safer to ask what is your favorite.

Frankly I don't have one. I enjoy all kinds of music.

Depends on what sort of music you're looking for. For example Kiss FM is good for R 'n' B while Choice FM is best for R 'n' B and Hip Hop and X FM is good for alternative music (Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, etc). Personally I like Capital FM.
