WOW! I've been answering easy questions all night!
Yes, there is absolutly life elsewhere. There are a billion galaxys
each having a billion stars.
Life is the scum that coats the universe.
Do you think that life would let that annoying person you work with irritate you if life was THAT precious?
We get annoyed with people because life has TIME to provide us with that luxury!
I have many people who life is providing hours of pleasure to.

We humans tend to believe that we occupy an extraordinarily unique and special place in the universe. Until a few hundred years ago, we believed that the entire universe revolved around Earth. When Copernicus argued instead that Earth orbits the Sun, we backed off, only to insist that it must be our Sun around which the universe revolves. However, this view of a Sun-centered universe was also not supported by subsequent astronomical observations. In response, we believed that as a minimum, the Sun is the center of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. But that was also not borne out by observation. Indeed, we continue to discover that our solar system's place in the universe is not unique at all.
But wait. What about life on Earth? Do we represent the only life in the universe and, perhaps, the only intelligent life? Actually, while we do not have concrete proof that there is life elsewhere in the universe, there is enough of a possibility to justify a search.

That is a really tricky question - although it might be answered in our lifetime.
I think the likely hood of life somewhere else in the universe is good, but the chances of life within the galaxy is much smaller - I'm guessing that their may be only a hand full of earth like planets in the galaxy. Intelligent life - inside the galaxy most likely just us. Outside maybe one per major galaxy.
Inside the solar system is the best chances for finding life other than the Earth - but I still think the chances are slim.

Hi there! Well, from what I know, they have found defintive proof that there was life on Mars finding little shells and fossils but nothing too advanced! So, there was life on Mars at sometime albeit primitive but life none the less! Life is extremely rare and the conditions must be perfect for life to spring and be born but in an infininate universe then there must be some other place that has life! Life isnt rare, this we know because there is an abundance of it on earth but in space life is rare due to the vast size of space but I am a firm believer that there is life out there! Also, just for fun check out on www.youtube.com and type in area 51- the alien interview! Im not sure if its real or fake but it really is realistic and quite upsetting! Watch them in there numbered orders! Takes about an hour but is the best footage i have seen of what could be called an extraterrestrial!

Hello,
(ANS) If you look at what Cosmologists & Astrophysists have been saying. That the current research say's there are 1 trillion stars in the universe that we know about, & statistsically if you took just 1% of those stars, the one's which have planets circling around them. Then that would still leave us with 1 million planets where life could exsist.
My reaction (response) to this is that "There MUST BE life else where", its extremely hard to think that the earth & the conditions for life, for the evolution of humans as a species was a totally unique one off accident. And that we are in fact just one species alone in the vastness of space.
NOP!! the probelm as I see it, is that even if life does exsist else where in the universe:
a) it may not be advanced life as we know it
b) it may not be based on carbon as humans are
c) even if there was advanced intelligent life forms, other species or other races, even aliens more technolgically advanced beyond humans. The problem is that they are so far away we couldnt contact them, couldnt travel to make contact with them. why? because humans cannot even travel 1 light year yet and survive and come back safely. Thats the next challenge for humans in space travel but its looking many years off stil in my opinion.

Its a little unlikely that there is life in the gas giants. The best bet in our own system (besides Earth itself, of course) is Jupiter's moon, Europa. Its believed that under its icy mantle there may be oceans of liquid water.
Rest assured though that there must be other life in the Universe. There are over 300 billion stars in this galaxy alone and there are 100 billion galaxies - most of those stars may have planetary systems. There is life out there.

I agree with you why should we be the only ones around , the conditions for life exist in many parts of the galaxy , maybe life but not as we know it , that's the puzzle , what form has it taken , we could be searching only based on carbon life , it could be under our noses in another form already , there is a long way to go yet

There is lots of life out there.
Intelligent life like ours proliferates also.
The universe dubbed us it"s eyes and ears.
We observe a very Small area of space so it must have many more like us to get an adequate coverage.

There are those who theorize about there being other life forms out there. For those who believe it, there is a thing called the drake equation. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation)
It stipulates how many possible civilizations there can be in a galaxy, but there is much controversy on how reliable it is.

I agree with you. People dont realize how many planets, stars and galaxies are really out there. THERE are MILLIONS AND MILLIONS. THere is sure to be life out there.
