the man on the broom in halfbloodprince is surely killed by snape, but if he wasnt dumbledore ?! i think he (i should say she) was Tanks and she has changed himself to dumbledore and dumbledor too, i mean some kind of sacrifice has Tanks done. and i think this is the only chance for dumbledor to be alive

Tonks was in the next scene after D died. She was in the hospital wing with the Weasley family when the brother got bit by the werewolf.

Dumbledore is dead. Dumbldedore's plan is going to require that Snape remain closely placed to Voldemort for ir to work. Dumbledore had to sacrifice himself in order to place Snape in that role.

JK Rowling has confirmed in an interview that Dumbledore is indeed dead. He will not come back. She also explained that, in her view, the hero must always proceed to the final test "alone".
Which explains why she keeps killing off everyone who is close to Harry and who could potentially "help" him defeat Voldemort.

Dumbledore is dead.....if it was Tonks...then way was Dumbledore's picture up in the headmaster's office after he died. If he didn't die, then his picture wouldn't be there.

We can invent a lot of theories about it and only Rowling knows for sure but I believe that Dumbldore is alive!!!

I could be wrong, but I thought JK had said that he was indeed dead.

She did say someone would die in that book--I know that leaves it open to who, but I thought she had said that he D was dead
