Beatrix Potter - Locations?

Apparently they shot ext and int of the Potter household in St. Peter`s Square, London which (I believe) is in Chiswick (and nr to where Hugh Grant grew up...if he ever has grown up)

But Beatrix was raised in South Kensington.

Can someone explain the licence or `movie faux`?

it was also filmed in part i the isle of man but she didn't come from there either
