To become pregnant, the ovum must be fertilised and implanted in the uterus. The ovum is released from the ovary where it develops. As the ovum is released the surge of oestrogen brings the body temperature down by 0.4 degree F. The most probable date of ovulation is 14 days before the onset of next menstruation. In a 28-day cycle the most probable day would be the 14th day from the beginning of the menstruation that just took place. Hence what you do is start measuring morning mouth temperature from the day 11 and within a few days you will find a slight dip in the temperature. This is the day when ovulation has occurred. Sexual intercourse on that would enable fertilisation and implantation which means commencement of pregnancy.

The best way to find out in the tech savvy world is to use the "Ovulation Calendar" Software
It is available for a free at http://www.ovulation-calendar.com/

With this you cannot go wrong. Just enter the day when your periods started and it will do the calculations for you.
It also tells you your safe period(;-) that is the time when you will not get pregnant, that is also useful for many) but the software is only recomended for those you want to get pregnant.
It does not guarantee otherwise.
Ovulation Calendar Features:
Get your personal fertility chart
Improve your chances of getting pregnant
Avoid an unwanted pregnancy
Predict the baby's zodiac sign
Calculate your baby's estimated due date
Choose the gender of your baby
