The equation is balanced because on each side, there are the same number of elements.

Fe and Cu have the same number of valence electrons, which is why you can do a 1:1 swap with each other in the mentioned equation.

This is an equation showing a displacement reaction. Fe, being more reactive than Cu, will displace the less reactive metal from its aqueous solution. This is a displacement rule. When this reaction takes place, the blue CuSO4 will be turn into pale green FeSO4 and there will be a reddish brown Cu coating on the solid Fe. I hope this help you to understand the reaction. =]]

Iron is higher up the electrochemical series than copper so can dislodge copper from the compound.Think of Fe as a bully who wants to steal Cu's girlfriend(SO4). Cu is left alone while Fe and SO4 are now an item.
Oversimplistic? Sorry but I tried.

CuSO4 is copper sulphate
Fe is Iron

When you chemically react these together, it produces iron sulphate (FeSO4) and Copper (Cu)

This is because Iron is more reactive than Copper and an element that's more reactive than another element in that type of reaction will displace the less reactive element (this is called a displacement reaction)

well this is obviously a balanced chemical equation. the main thing which it shows is the displacement reaction occuring between iron and copper.since iron(Fe) is more reactive than copper(Cu) so it displaces it forms the compound. i hope i have made understand the fact.

CuSO4+Fe=FeSO4+Cu
This is an example of substitution reaction.Fe is more reactive than Cu, so it displaces Cu from its salt and takes place of Cu.

A simple displacement reaction. The IRON(Fe) is more reactive than COPPER(Cu) so it knocks it out and the end product is IRON-FERROUS SULFATE(FeSO4) and a collection of BLUE TRICLINIC CRYSTALS(Cu) hope this helps!

it means that if you mix copper sulphate solution with iron particles, the solutions changes to iron sulphate solution with iron particles as the iron displaces the copper in the solution.

this means that copper sulphate when is treated with iron it gives iron sulphate and copper. In this reaction iron replaces copper because it is more reactive than copper.
