I am currently working as a Door Steward or Bouncer if you like.I come across all sorts of people in my work.I can handle myself when it comes to knuckle fighting 3 to 1 but say 6 guys id have a problem beating.I have no problem using a pocket knuckle duster/bottle opener that i keep around my neck at all times. From a legal stand point i would like to know the legalites of carrying a small 2 inch or 3 inch knife in the uk such as a boot knife or something similer.I have been a Bouncer for 8 years and these days some people just wanna be nasty so it's always nice to be nasty back sometimes also it's good protection and peace of mind for a guy in my kind of work.10 points no problem to the best & most informative answer thanks.

Jim E is correct, unless you are carrying it for a purpose like if you are a fisherman and you use it for fishing, you will be seriously nicked for it if you were to use it in a fight at your job.

if you must carry a knife make sure it isn't a locking blade type, has a small blade and have a ready excuse.

also i believe that carrying a knuckleduster would count as an offensive weapon too. its a fine country when you can't defend yourself against ar-se-holes isn't it!.

It is illegal to carry any knife in the UK unless you can proove that you have a legal and legimate purpose. In your case you would certainly get sent to prison (rightly) because there is no policeman, judge or jury that would believe you were carrying it for any purpose other than sticking it in someone. As a bouncer you would probably get an even longer sentrance becasue you'd be expected to know better. Your other weapons are also illegal too.

Incidentally, I'm bothered that you would even consider useng a knife at all. There's no way that you wouldn't use it if you have it.

Have you any idea how much damage even a 2" blade can do? It's not just the internal organ damage, it's also infection. Using one could destroy someone's life or ruin it for an innocent person for ever. That's too high a price for a few minutes scuffle.

You can carry a small knife if you have a just and fair need for it. For example if you were a Carpenter, or going fishing.

However, if an incident occurs with the knife while you are stewarding a door and the Police discovered you were carrying it with "Intention" they will throw the book at you!

if you are Muslim you could say its for your worship and you would get away with it. if you are English and caught you would be locked up for years and years and years.
