I am trying to run ipconfig but my command line window closes before I can do anything! Can somebody help me fix this? Thanks

Here are my steps. Thanks!

1. Start -> Run
2. Typed "ipconfig"
3. Command line shows up for a split second and instantly closes.

Okay, this is what you should do:

1. Start -> Run
2. Type "cmd"

Then, when the prompt comes up, type "ipconfig".

It will run and then stop, but the command prompt will stay open and tell you why. You might need to throw in another arguement after the "ipconfig". Good luck!

That's because when the program completes, it closes the DOS window. If you want to type the command, you'll need to open the DOS shell.

"Start" -> "Run" -> "cmd"

This will open up a DOS shell which you can then type the command "ipconfig" to have the information displayed and stay displayed.

Silly man, you forgot to go to a command prompt. You have to type cmd in the run box in order to get a command prompt up.

/all switch is the best switch to use with ipconfig. Type: ipconfig /all.

He said ipconfig, Not msconfig
You have to launch the command prompt first. Like the other said.
Start
Run
cmd

ipconfig

Non of the answers are right sort of.. the msconfig window should come up and stay up just like you did ... you have something else going on. you may want to check for spyware or viruses.
