I assume you would usually find that most shifts are throughout the daytime say from 4am to 1am, the rest us usually recorded that goes for TV and only an assumption, I know for a fact that with local radio stations there is a presenter in the studio from 7am to 10pm the rest is recorded.

So which is the best...? I'd say earlier the better.

Depends on your question.

If you mean "when will you get most listeners/viewers and therefore most money", then the answer for most radio stations is breakfast, and for most television channels is 8.00pm.

If you mean "when will you have most fun working", then the answer for most radio stations is the evenings/late nights; and for television is possibly mid-mornings. This is mainly because you don#t need to follow the rules quite so closely!

If you mean during the year, then the best shift for a radio presenter is, funnily enough, Christmas Day morning; and the worst is definitely New Years Eve into New Years Day.

I would imagine the early shift of 7am onward would be good as you get the morning people up getting ready for work and listening at home in car ect so good audience.
The worst for me would be in the dead of night as most people in bed and I would find that spookey.that would be for radio.
teleivison best would be early evening say 7 onwards worst would be after midnight as most people off to bed however weekends may be better and mornings not good for radio as we have lie in.

I think the daytime9-6 shifts would be best as you could have a normal life outside of work.
The night shift-midnight-6am would be the worst as most people are asleep
