If you're having any abnormal symptoms get checked right away! Otherwise I'd wait a week or so... But don't wait too long because often times there won't be any noticeable symptoms... Check out www.webmd.com for more advice... I've found nearly everything on their website pretty reliable.

If you had been to some professional sex worker.you should get test for STDs at any cost. If you have been to some one whom you knew since long and are sure that your partner is not having sex with anyone else than you can wait for any symptoms like burning sensation in urine etc. Its better to always have protected sex.

I would say wait a week, if there was an STD it might not show up in any tests for a few days.
