Unfortunately Yes, Time has proved it correct. There are many examples North Korea, Pakistan and now Iran is in Que.

Why developing countries are running after Nukes ? Because it guarantees countries security and protect from invaders like USA.

America has a policy which says -
1. Stop developing countries to develop their arms.
2.If they can't stop that, then they try to become friend of that country.
3.Stab on the back of the friendly country as and when required for self development.

I hope you understand the World Politics.

No.
Chances of war between Pakistan and Iran are very remote not because of nuclear power but because of the cultural & religous similiarities. A greater risk resides with Pakistans other neighbor India, and the dispute over Kashmir, and the religous and cultural differences.
War is a greater concern for powers that do not have nuclear weapons, when rivialed against a power that does. I believe the greatest concern is should a nuclear power allay itself with a terrorist organiztion and provide them nuclear weapons. The ties and open support Iran gives an number of terrorist organization is what raises the greatest concern over Iranian nuclear power.

Between major powers? Yes. Since the Soviet Union gained nuclear capability, there has never been a war between two nuclear powers. There have been proxy wars, sure, but nothing too serious. That's definitely a good thing.

On the other hand, Iran is crazy. I don't want Iran with a nuke... or even any kind of nuclear capability.

Luckily, Israel will probably take care of that for us.

Actually in some twisted way having nuclear weapons I think does actually decrease the odds of two enemies resorting to all out war. They may have skirmishes and proxy wars but as long as you have 2000 minuteman missiles hanging over your head and a couple thousand hanging over your enemies head you tend to be more willing to talk. If it were not for our huge nuclear arsenals I see no way the US and Russia wouldn't have gone to war during the cold war period, too much tension too much animosity. We pushed the edges a couple times and we definitely made the world nervous, but I think our sheer destructive potential actually made us safer to be around in the long run. People talk about all the trouble that happened during the cold war but it wasn't bad when you consider that you had two superpowers who hated each other and held under their control the power to kill about half the world population in less than a couple of hours.

The dangers of Nuclear proliferation, especially among countries with unstable or extreme regimes, is that these weapons will be used in an uncontrolled local episode, but the result will be a global nuclear war, that will end in the demise of most life on earth, except maybe cockroaches.

I don't see what having nuclear energy has to do with war. Unless you are talking about nuclear weapons. In which case, yes. For example: We dropped two bombs on Japan.......and then there was no war.

ps. Iran does not have nuclear power or bombs. Which ever one you mean.

It worked for the almost 45 years of the Cold War.

But the US and USSR were both realists. Now, nukes are falling into the hands of religious lunatics that don't accept reality.

The US has the power to neutralize any rocket with the range of 1000 miles or greater. Less than that it becomes a time factor or rather reaction time.
