The turkey flu is unlikely to spread to the human population. My one question is why UK.gov vets assumed the turkey's were dying of other than the death flu? I would think it very important that UK.gov vets start with the assumption that any bunch of birds dying in such number, must be dying because they've got death flu! It took UK.gov vets three days to make up their minds. Why?

It is estimated that an outbreak of the human variety of bird flu could kill up to 80-million worldwide - a pandemic which will put medievil black death plagues into the shade. If it comes and you survive, remember to tell your boss you want 'double pay' from now on, or you're taking your skills elsewhere. This is what medievil workers did. Go for it!

Idiots are still feeding pigeons on the north terrace of Trafalgar Square. This is where bird flu will strike.

Well I 'm not giving up eating turkey - cooking it thoroughly will kill the virus, and you should always cook poultry thoroughly anyway because of the risk of salmonella. No-one has ever died from EATING an infected bird, only from handling a live or decently dead one.
Just look forward to eating lots of cheap (cheep?) meat as the price plumets due to people like you!

Sorry that was a bit sensitive, I think with the stock at christmas you will be safe, organisations such as bernard matthews will no doubt have had a screening process in place ever since the first reports of H5N1 hitting the UK last year. What has happened over the weekend is probably proof that their containment system does in fact work, and they are taking the required steps to deal with it.
