No, the klu klux klan is impotent. They have no power or influence to speak of. Yes, ignorant racisim still exists in some quarters of the US but you will find that most Americans to be kind and caring and race will not be a issue.

It depends where in the US. Some places are more dnagerous than others. I think you've been watching or listening to someone manipulating you through fear!
My comment about the LAPD isn't all tongue in cheek. There are still many blacks in the US that will not pull their car over until they reach a public place. And it's not just the South where sometihng bad can happen.
Just use common sense, keep your papers in order and you should be fine.

It depends. I'd stay outta Texas if I were you (!!). Probably Alabama and Georgia too - anywhere that might be classed as Redneck country (!!). Your main problem in the large cities is more likely to be the NYPD or LAPD than the KKK!!
This actually assumes that they'd let you in the country in the first place!!

From what I have learned from my dear African American friends, when they step out of the door they are conscious they live in a very white America and will be judged by their skin color, so it isn't just KKK's that are the problem, although that organization is reprehensible. We live in a world where it is difficult to feel safe, and I truly feel sorry for people of color who worry they will be in harm's way.

The KKK doesn't go around killing black people here. They are still around, but not nearly as much as you probably hear. They are pretty washed out. If you come here you will probably never see a KKK member, I haven't, and I've lived here all my life.. but then again.. I'm white.
