Why advertise for them unless the car was free or heavily discounted? I understand if the car was bought used and had state issued plates already on and the owner didn't bother removing whatever was already on.

What I don't understand is when people do that with brand new cars. That kinda thing requires someone to actually go through the trouble of putting the advertisment plate on once they get their tags from the state. I dont get it.

LOOK! I GOT RIPPED OFF WHEN I BOUGHT A TOYOTA SIENNA FROM BILLYBOB AUTOMALL.

Most dealers put the tag frames on the car. They also either get the tags for the customer, or in some states, may be authorized to issue regular tags. In either case, the dealership will put the tags on the car, and install the tag frames at that time.

Most people do not go through the trouble to remove them.

As a side note, a dealer in my area would put the tag frames on any car that was brought to them for service. They got some seriously bad press when a customer charged them with theft, because they replaced the tag frame from another dealer! The customer demanded that they replace the tag frames that were on the car, and they had already disposed of them. The customer filed criminal theft charges!!!

Some people want the tag frames, some do not. Many do not even notice them!

Not only do I not use the plate frames, but the last two times I bought vehicles, I made sure they took their dorky plastic logo off the tail end of the car. If I want something on my car, I'll put my OWN dorky plastic stuff on it ;-)

I bought a used lemon once, I painted an arrow to the dealership name painted on the back with the words "Don't buy a car here, I did, look what I got" with a small pic of a Lemon. Other than that, I never put any stickers on my car, they make it look "CHEESY" !

i agree they're ugly, what i also don't get is why people have license plates that say "lexus rs234blah blah" when it says the same thing on the back of their car already.
they don't have to replace it just take it off

Yes, they do that to try to advertise their dealership..... I make sure to remove any stupid names they put on the vehicles, or their 50cent stickers too.

Thats why you get one of those totally outrageous ones that say something like "I HAVE A HUGE MULLET" printed on it. Anything to make the person behind you hang up and drive!
