hotels.com. They pay you to write and edit reviews for hotels. You have to have a writing degree and experience as an editor, though.

I'd NEVER trust online "publishers" for your artistic written creations. I suggest you first copyright protect your written works first before snail mailing them to prospective publishers.
Every aspiring writer also must expect and fact the torrent of nice rejections and be ever villigant in their search for a publisher---surely one will come along and pay you those "checks" for your writings.

Helium. com does. Right now it's under construction but you can put your email address and they will mail you when it's up and running. I know they primarily pay with PayPal but I believe I saw that you had the option to have a check mailed to you.

but Youtube will pay for video hits, and you could dress up and hold a flashlight and do readings of your 'writings' and film it and post it and maybe get a cult following, or have one video blow up and get a bunch of hits. like "OK Go"
