We were there for a day trip a few years ago.. (they have a day trip cruise out of Fort Lauderdale)..
We spent the day at the Strawmarket shopping... at Port Lucaya. We headed a short walk across the street from the market and went to a hotel there (I can't remember the name, but it was the only one at the time) and we gambled a little bit in the casino there. It was pretty, but we lost our money rather quickly... so we headed off to the public beach (all within walking distance) and we sat on the beach, and I had my hair braided by a local woman while my husband rented a jet ski and screwed around on the water for about 45 minutes..
There didn't seem to be a LOT of things to do there, actually.. and I was thinking that a day there was plenty for us...
I imagine if you stayed in a resort there, the hotel would have a lot more amenities for you.
Good luck!

Beach, beach, and more beach! Parasailing, shopping, swim with the dolphins, snorkel, scuba dive, glass bottom boat rides, deep sea fishing...and did I mention the gorgeous beaches?
I've been a few times and haven't found a better vacation place. Have fun!

hi. I stay in Freeport and there are a number of magnificent seashores! it extremely is right to hire a vehicle to get to maximum of them. a million. while you're staying at Grand Lucayan, the coastline marvelous there is super in case you stroll faraway from the inn - it extremely is a good stroll and gets extra inner maximum as you circulate alongside. 2. Heading east, circulate to Taino coastline. i think of of it through fact the "city coastline". nevertheless not so busy yet has a cool beachfront eating place suggested as Tony Macaroni's. Jazz and volleyball on sundays and a cool vibe. Tony is a hoot! 3. proceed east to Banana Bay, additionally suggested as Barbary coastline. examine to attempt circulate at low tide - magnificent coastline that is going out some distance. Banana Bay is a cool exterior eating place. 4. Head lots extra east to Gold Rock coastline, additionally suggested as Lucayan national Park - additionally suited at low tide and then intense Rock coastline the place Bishop's eating place is (i'm referring you to eating places as extra help while asking for instructions or depending on maps. 5. while you're staying at Island Seas, Williams city coastline is magnificent at low tide and has some actual community bars to circulate to. Xanadu coastline, additionally surprising at low tide. Snorkelling isn't so super marvelous off maximum seashores, might detect some little coral reefs. suited snorkelling is via boat to get slightly off particular to the place the surf breaks and there is powerful coral. There are numerous businesses that grant snorkelling via boat or perhaps Kayak. 6. Paradise Cove - out west, has snorkelling off their coastline yet I extremely have by no skill been there. might desire to pay to get on their coastline to try this. one extra tip, for protection. Take the minimum stuff with you through fact there's a possibility of robbery. circulate away all jewellry at homestead (do not even put in the trunk). we don't even lock our automobiles after we circulate to those places through fact we don't choose a broken window. purely take slightly money for lunch and beers (possibly $30-40). you would be risk-free, yet automobiles are a objective. yet - ultimately - you will get alluring white sand at each coastline on Grand Bahama island! maximum persons do not think of of Freeport for seashores yet those are the those that purely stay on the enormous substantial inn, so as that they are lacking out on the suited places.
