How can you record the sound that comes out of your speakers? I know you can use a microphone, but is there any way to just record the sound directly? If not what other ways are there to make a high quality recording of the sound?

It depends. What is the source of the sound and what outputs does it have? For example, if you are using a stereo receiver, you can likely connect a CD burner to play from input "A" and record at output "B". If you are talking about a computer, you can usually use any standard recording program to record onto the computer's HD. If you are running Windows you can find a sound recorder under Accessories/ Entertainment/Sound Recorder (from the Start Menu). Just about any piece of audio equipment has a headphone jack. You can also use that as an output from your destination and record into another device.

Open your audio administration panel and set it to Stereo blend. That'll allow you to record from both your microphone or in spite of you've at present playing. Then get carry of Audacity and use it to record.
