Well, I was borrowing a friend’s truck which is insured (Basic Coverage) and someone with full coverage hit me at an intersection. The truck was totaled and the other drivers are at fault, but their insurance co. won't give me any info. until they get the police report. I'm not familiar with the insurance system and was hoping someone could share their knowledge so I know what to expect. Any info. Would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot give you a totally accurate answer as it will depend on a few things. Assuming you are over 25 y.o, have a legal and valid license and had the owners permission to be driving the vehicle then you should be fine. You may need to prove all of these things to the over insurance company first though.

If you are under 25 it might be more complicated depending on the insurance agreement.

If you do not have a valid license for the vehicle class you are driving or did not have the owners permission then you better get a lawyer fast.

Usual disclaimers apply as laws vary from country to country and state to state.

In order to be covered under his insurance policy you would have to be mentioned in his policy. At the time of the wreck, you should have been given some kind of statement saying that you can get a police report of the wreck. If you request by mail and send in the small fee for the paperwork. By the friend loaning you the automobile with his full knowledge, he is fully finacial responsible for any damages that may occur while you are driving. I would advise both you and your friend to get some advice from an accident attorney and contact both his insurance and yours.

I would start by going to the link I have included.

Good Luck

Their insurance covers you unless you are a relative living with the owner.

If you were legally driving (not drunk, not suspended license etc..) and it is the other driver's fault. No worries they have to pay for the truck and any medical exspenses you incurred.
