Ours did too not that long ago (I'm Canadian too). It was all green and black. It seemed weird when it went technicolour, we called it Monopoly money for a long time. And we hated the coins, they pull the pants right off you. We just had to be different.

good question, im all for the wide rainbow of canadian money, you can tell how much you have at your wallet with a quick glance. the only thing i dont like so much is the 2 dollar coin... coins are heavy and make noise in your pockets when you run :P
