I had a waterbirth with baby number 3. We hired a birthing pool, set it up in the lounge and it became part of the furniture for a couple of weeks!
When my labour started we filled it and once the midwife arrived I was able to jump in, the relief I felt was unbelievable. Movement was free and after about half an hour out popped my first son.
All labours are painful, but his birth was possibly the most enjoyable due to the fact I was so relaxed and felt so comfortable.
We intended to do exactly the same for baby #4, but he arrived before the pool did..... impatient little chap!

I hear it is the best expereince I wouldnt chance it for my first birth in which I will be going through here in a couple months LOL. but I am chicken to . I would think the warm water would relax you and would be great to try as long as you dont want any pain meds such as epidural done. BUt keep other options in mind anything can change so always have a backup plan ready

I actually have had journey devoid of drugs and medicines for beginning, yet no longer water beginning. My first change into born devoid of any drugs in any respect, no longer with assistance from determination, yet because she arrived very right away. Wow, the discomfort is something that i will not even describe. notwithstanding, for the reason that I had really needed an epidural, i imagine i change into really dissatisfied too. If I had needed to provide beginning clearly and had prepared for it mentally, it may were somewhat more effective. That suggested, the discomfort change into impressive. I actually have a quite intense threshold for discomfort, and wow, it change into previous... My hubby tells me that i change into swearing on the Dr via discomfort. My fix change into also fairly demanding, plenty and far of bleeding, and sitting on ice packs. merely about 7 months in the past I had my second infant using staydol (sp?) and getting an epidural. It change right into a stunning journey, and basically I laughed my infant out. I merely pushed 3 situations and then I pulled her out. My fix change into ultimate, lots a lot less blood and discomfort frequently. inspite of determination you're making, good success

It's also supposed to be the least stressful for the baby and allows them to go from one water environment to another rather than a sudden cold entrance into light and air.

I have one word for you: Epidural. A water birth isn't for everyone...I'm one of them. I had to have each of my children in a hospital because I had to be induced. So having a water birth is not up my ally, and know not a whole lot about. But just something for you to think about: When a baby is born, he/she usually gasp for air, so if you are giving birth in water, the first gulp he/she will get is water...not a good thing. Amniotic fluid and water are COMPLETELY different types of fluids. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't let yourself get convinced otherwise. Make an informed decision. Do what makes you feel comfortable, but do it as an informed woman. Talk to your doctor about it. Your doctor may not allow water births in their practice. I hope that I've helped in some manner.
Sincerely,
Alysa K.
mom to a 7yo DD, a 4yo DS, and a 6mo DD.

A water birth is only really safe if you and your baby can swim. Or if you can teach it really quickly, but babies attention spans are quite short.
