You need to average 95% on the rest of your tests to get a 92%.

Yes. If you score 100 on the remaining seven tests, your average would be 95.5%, which should be an "A" at any school. You could get an "A" even without scoring 100 on the rest of the tests. At my school 90-100% was an "A," but other schools (or other teachers) could use a different standard. Check with your instructor for the break between an "A" and a "B" and keep in mind that even an A- is still considered an "A." If you are concerned about the grade, talk to the teacher NOW to let him or her know that you are concerned and ask for suggestions on how to improve your grade. You might be able to do an extra credit project that would help.

I am assuming each test is worth the same weight at 10% of the final grade. Now all you have to do is multiply each test grade by ".1" and add them together. This will give you the final grade.

Let's calculate what you currently have in the class if you decided to not take any more tests and do bad.

test1 83x.1=8.3
test2 86x.1=8.6
test3 86x.1=8.6
test4 --- test 10 = 0
final grade = 25.5

So this means if you were to make a 0 on the next 7 tests you would make a 25 or 26 if the teacher rounds up on the grade for the class that means F.

Now lets pretend you make a 100 on the next 7 tests.

test1 83x.1=8.3
test2 86x.1=8.6
test3 86x.1=8.6
test4 100x.1=10
test5 100x.1=10
test6 100x.1=10
test7 100x.1=10
test8 100x.1=10
test9 100x.1=10
test10 100x.1=10
final grade =95.5

This means if you were to make a 100 on the next 7 tests in the class you would come out with a 95 or 96 as your final grade, which means an A.

Conclusion:
If you haven't noticed, every 10 points deducted on a test will subtract 1 point to your final grade.
Now I am assuming 93-100 is an A for your class. If that is the case, on your next 7 tests you cannot lose a combined score of more than 25 points to still maintain a 93 as your final grade. That means if you make 80 for test 4, you are left with 5 points to spare. On the remaining 5 tests you cannot make below a 99 on each to still maintain that A.

If you treat 90% as an A, then you need to average ~92.14 on the rest of the tests to get an A.
