I think Brian May is an amazing guitarist and to think made that guitar himself out of rubbish, that just astounds me.
I simply cannot single out a fave track because I love most of the music by Queen and Brian was an integral part of that band.
Though seeing him rock the national anthem on the roof of Buchingham Palace for the golden jubilee will be a sight that I will never forget, I wish I'd been in the audience that night, though seeing on TV made a real impact with me.

Phil Miller of Hatfield and National Health plays like a genius in all styles from the loudest rock to the most complicated jazz riffs. He also pulls some interesting faces while playing live!
Another in the same vein is Allan Holdsworth who played with Soft Machine and Gong in the 1970s and has quietly pursued a solo career in the jazz world since.
Zappa was also a genius with the guitar - Brian May shouldn't be mentioned in the same company as such greats.

Eric Clapton the best.Half the other names here all acknowledged him as their role model. All his recordings are great and he has played with numerous others including the Beatles(my guitar gently weeps)Jimmy Hendrix did a impromtu tribute to him on Top of the pops once which threw BBC studio staff into panic

Ry Cooder does it for me - some of his movie soundtracks stand out as works of genius. I saw him play live in Glasgow some years ago and it was spellbinding blues.
